Taste and tour the vineyard and winery
Ziliotto Wines is a small family vineyard in Belford, at the northern end of the Hunter Valley. Dominic and Nicole planted these blocks themselves from 2018, and they are the ones who show you around.
You wander the rows, see what is on the vine, and hear how Italian varietals like Nero d’Avola, Negroamaro and Pecorino ended up growing in Hunter Valley soil. Then into the winery to see how it is all made, and a glass of everything at the end.
Groups are capped at ten, which keeps it feeling like a conversation rather than a presentation.
The vineyard and winery tour
$60 per person · Saturday and Sunday, 11:00am · About 1.5 hours
Dominic takes you out through the north and south blocks and tells you the story of the place, including the Shiraz cuttings traced back to the James Busby vines planted just down the road on Busby Lane.
From there it is into the winery to see the barrels and how a small batch operation actually works, before you sit down to taste the current range with the people who made it.
It is a working vineyard, so you might pick up a bit of dirt on your shoes and plenty of straight answers along the way.

Would rather skip the walk and go straight to the wine? Book a tasting. Sessions run every half hour from midday, with the last one at 3:30pm.
Someone from the family pours you through the current release and talks you through each wine, with no script and no rush.
What is in the glass
The range changes with the season and with what has sold out. Across a visit you can expect to taste from:
- Pecorino, a white Italian varietal, crisp and textural
- Nero d’Avola, a Sicilian red grown on Paulsen rootstock here since 2021
- Negroamaro, planted in the southern block in 2020
- Tempranillo, grafted onto the 2018 rootstock in 2021
- Shiraz Viognier, from Busby-lineage cuttings
- Viognier, from the original vines that came with the property in 2017
Very few Hunter Valley cellar doors pour this combination. That is the point.

Belford sits at the northern end of the Hunter Valley wine country, between Branxton and Singleton. It is a short drive from the Pokolbin cellar doors, so a tour here works well alongside a wider Hunter Valley day.

Parking is on site and free. Exact directions are confirmed in your booking email.
Good to know
- Flat shoes are a good idea. The vineyard is grass and dirt rather than footpath.
- Tours go ahead in light rain. If the weather really turns we will give you a call and find another day that suits.
- There is nothing to pay when you book. We sort that out when you arrive.
- Children are welcome alongside an adult.

Do I need to book a Hunter Valley winery tour in advance?
Yes. Ziliotto Wines runs one tour a day at 11:00am on Saturdays and Sundays, capped at ten people, so it books out. Submit a request through the form on this page and we will confirm by phone or email.
How much is a winery tour at Ziliotto Wines?
The vineyard and winery tour is $60 per person and runs for about 1.5 hours. A cellar door tasting without the tour is $10 per person. Payment is taken on the day.
How long does the tour take?
About an hour and a half. That covers the vineyard walk, the winery and a seated tasting of the current range.
What days are you open?
Saturday and Sunday. One tour each day at 11:00am. Tastings run from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, with the last tasting booking at 3:30pm.
Where is Ziliotto Wines?
Bell Road, Belford NSW 2335, at the northern end of the Hunter Valley wine region. Roughly 20 minutes from the Pokolbin cellar doors, an hour from Newcastle and two hours from Sydney.
What wines will I taste?
Italian varietals grown on the property, including Pecorino, Nero d’Avola, Negroamaro and Tempranillo, alongside Shiraz Viognier and Viognier. The exact line-up depends on what is available on the day.
Can I bring a group?
Bookings are capped at ten people. For anything larger, call us on 0414 189 622 and we will see what we can do.
Is there a minimum number of people?
No. Solo visitors and couples are welcome.
